What Does Dedicated Servers Hosting Signify?

When we speak of hosting web servers, there are three main kinds - shared website hosting servers, VPS (private virtual hosting servers) and dedicated servers. Shared servers accommodate plenty of customers and so the system resources per user account are restricted, virtual private server accounts give you more server configuration independence, but also influence other virtual private web hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized imprudently, and dedicated servers offer you the independence to do everything you wish without meddling with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated server?

Dedicated servers are typically much more expensive than shared hosting servers or virtual private web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The reply is very simple. If your company has a resource-requiring web portal, or just has very specific server architecture requirements, the smartest choice would be a dedicated server. For someone who is inclined to invest in security and dependability, the bigger price is not a concern. You have root-level access and can use 100 percent of the dedicated web hosting server's system resources without anyone else sharing these system resources and intervening with your websites.

Hardware architectures

Most shared hosting suppliers, including us at Bottom Dollar Web Hosting, offer several different hardware architectures you can select from in keeping with your requirements. The hardware configurations offer different sorts of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM and server hard disk drive sizes and different monthly bandwidth allowances. You can choose a web hosting Control Panel, which is a handy GUI if you wish to use the web hosting server for website hosting purposes solely and prefer not to use an SSH terminal for all the changes you will be making. We provide three types of hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The web hosting CP of your choice

If you are a confident Linux OS user (our web servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated server through an SSH connection only. That, though, could be inconvenient, even more so if you choose to grant access to somebody else who has less technical skills than yourself. That is why having web hosting Control Panel software pre-installed is an excellent idea. The Hepsia Control Panel tool that we provide does not include full root privileges and is mainly appropriate for somebody who has multiple sites that consume lots of resources, but desires to administer the websites, databases and electronic mails via a user-friendly hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, give you root-level access and include 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting plans instead of using the dedicated web hosting server solely for yourself, you should select one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your dedicated hosting server, such as an unresponsive Apache or a downtime, it is desirable to have some kind of monitoring system enabled. Here at Bottom Dollar Web Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated server as well. Backups are also an additional feature - the hosting company offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to have the same data on 2 server disk drives as a protective measure in the event of a hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given complete server root access deletes something accidentally.
